Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra receives positive response in East Jaintia Hills
The East Jaintia Hills District Administration in collaboration with the office of the Block Development Officer, Wapung C&RD Block and different line departments on November 24 organized awareness programmes under the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) on various central schemes implemented in the country at Iongkaluh and Jalyiah villages under Wapung C&RD Block, East Jaintia Hills District.
The programme at Jalyiah village was attended by Sailesh Kumar, Director of Finance, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India who is the designated District Prahari (Observer) for East Jaintia Hills District. Also present at the programme were District Nodal Officer, Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY), East Jaintia Hills District, D Lyngdoh, line department officials, traditional heads and community members.
In his brief address during the programme at Jalyiah, Sailesh Kumar, Director of Finance, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India & District Prahari, East Jaintia Hills District expressed happiness in being associated with the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) in East Jaintia Hills District which provides the right platform for sensitization and awareness generation on different schemes and programmes implemented by the Government of India.
Kumar also took the occasion to urge upon the attendees to leverage on the opportunity by availing the services made available to them in order to facilitate achievement of 100 percent saturation status in respect of enrolment under different schemes and programmes of the Central Government.
On the occasion, certificates were also handed to prominent sports achievers of Jalyiah and new LPG connections under PM Ujjwala Yojana were also handed over to beneficiaries.
The event also featured free medical check-ups, Tuberculosis (TB) Screening, etc by health officials which saw the active participation of the residents of Jalyiah Village and a registration counter for Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana was also set up which attracted a sizeable number of footfalls.
During the day, officials of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare interacted with farmers of the area and highlighted to them the importance of soil health management even as participants were encouraged to get their soil tested in order to know the nature and types of agricultural products most suitable to the area and in order to boost their production.
Other highlights of the programme include experience sharing by beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and on the occasion, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra pledge was also taken by officials and stakeholders attending the programme.
It is to be mentioned that the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) in East Jaintia Hills District which commenced on November 23 with programmes held at Iapmala and Wahsarang respectively is set to continue with the yatra seeking to reach 40 identified villages under Wapung C&RD Block, 30 villages under Lumshnong Block and 34 villages under Saipung Block till January 26, 2024 when the yatra culminates.
