Village Health Team formed for combating COVID-19
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday said a team of doctors have been asked to closely monitor all primary contacts of the COVID-19 patients, who are under home quarantine.
“All primary contacts under home quarantine are being visited by a team of Doctors in their residence and being monitored very closely,” Sangma said.
He informed that the East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner has also formed 48 teams for making home visits for all the secondary contacts.
A total of 5,503 people are under home quarantine while 300 are sent for institutional quarantine in East Khasi Hills District, which has been categorized as “red zone”.
With no fresh positive cases reported, the chief minister further informed of 1130 samples tested, 1048 were negative while 70 tests are awaited.
He said all the 11 active COVID-19 patients are stable. The state has so far recorded one death due to the deadly virus.
It may be mentioned here, a total of 24,382 people have been screened for coronavirus infection.
On the other hand, the chief minister said all other individuals under home quarantined are being advised for self-isolation for 14 days and to report if any one of the symptoms appear.
Further, the village health team has also been constituted in all the eleven districts of the state. The team is comprising of 4 to 5 members which include village headman, ASHA, AWW, ANM and school teacher.
Meanwhile, the CM said in the background of the present COVID19 outbreak, the general public is advised to adhere to health advisories issued by the State Government.
Public should follow the cough etiquette by covering the nose and mouth using handkerchief/towel while sneezing/coughing and do frequent hand washing with soap and water.
As of today, 181 primary contacts and 3003 secondary contacts have been traced.
