Vision centre inaugurated at Smit
A new Vision Centre was inaugurated at Smit on Monday.
Marbatstar Kharbyngar – the Headman of Smit was the Chief Guest in presence of staff from Bansara Eye Care Centre.
Dr. Jennifer Basaiawmoit (Medical Director), Aaron Basaiawmoit (Chief Executive Officer) and Mrs. Roshna Gajmer Basaiawmoit (Head of Projects and General Administration) virtually attended the function online along with representatives from Mission for Vision (MFV) and Savitri Waney Charitable Foundation.
During the virtual inauguration of the new Vision Center, Dr. Jennifer Basaiawmoit spoke about the importance of making eye care accessible in areas where people are deprived of eye care service.
Further she thanked all the collaborating partners for making the launch of the new vision centre at Smit a reality.
In his speech, Marbatstar Kharbyngar expressed gratitude to all the people and organization who were involved in helping set up the new Vision Center at Smit which will help the people residing not only in Smit but also the adjoining villages near-by.
Aaron Basaiawmoit while giving the vote of thanks appreciating the representatives who attended the virtual inauguration and also the staff and village headman who were physically present during the inauguration.
At the end of the inauguration program, many patients residing in and around Smit visited the new Bansara Smit Vision Centre for their eye check-up.
This project having been conceptualized as an extension of Bansara Eye Care Centre’s ongoing work in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya and it can be considered as the next phase of establishing sustainable quality eye care delivery services to the people.
With the launch of the new Vision Centre at Smit, Bansara Eye Care Centre with support from MFV, Savitri Waney Charitable Foundation and the Society for Promotion of Eye Care & Sight (SPECS) is furthering its mission to eliminate avoidable blindness in the state of Meghalaya through cooperation, collaboration and convergence, thus, making quality eye care services easily accessible, affordable and available to people in dire need.
