Vote based on development, promises delivered: Shylla to voters
UDP leader and cabinet minister Kyrmen Shylla on Wednesday said people should vote based on the development and promises delivered in the upcoming elections to the two autonomous district councils (ADCs) in the Khasi and Jaintia region, to be held next year.
“I urge the people of the state that this time don’t only listen to words but to also look at what development and promises have been delivered (before voting in the ADC polls),” Shylla told reporters.
“Actually it is a blessing being in the government, we get a chance to bring development to the people. If you are out of the government, you will not have developmental scheme for your constituency and you cannot do justice to your people as no one will elect you to be in the opposition. People will like to see you in the ruling as that is their expectation. None of the voters expect the MLAs/MDCs to be in the opposition,” he said.
Shylla informed that the party is gearing up its preparation for the ADC polls. He said that the party has given the leaders from his constituency freedom to select the candidates from seats under his constituency. According to him, all sitting MDCs will be candidates of the party for the ADC elections.
