VPP expels Pariat for anti-party statements in social media
The opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) on Saturday expelled a member of its state executive committee for anti-party statements.
Avner Medon Pariat, who was also candidate of the VPP against East Shillong legislator and cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh in 2023 Assembly polls, was charged with making statements against the party in favour of another political party in social media platforms.
“As directed by the state executive committee, we the undersigned, wish to inform you, that the party has taken serious note of your recent statements made against the party in favour of another political party through social media platform which is unbecoming for a member of the state executive committee,” chairman of the VPP disciplinary committee Dr Kara H Shen said in an expulsion notice to Pariat.
“Your statements and behaviour have damaged the image of the party and undermined our efforts to strengthen the party. This act of indiscipline on your part has left us with no option but to expel you from the party with immediate effect,” Dr Shen stated.
