VPP is without any agenda, Pala stuck in a broken family: Tynsong
National People’s Party (NPP) state president and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday said the opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) led by Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit is a party without any “agenda” even as he expressed pity for the sitting Congress MP Vincent H Pala for getting stuck in a “broken family”.
Addressing an election campaign at Iawpynsin, Wahiajer under Nartiang constituency in West Jaintia Hills District, Tynsong said that the election fever is running high in Khasi and Jaintia Hills and this is because of a new entrant, the VPP.
“The VPP led by Ardent Basaiawmoit are campaigning without any agenda. The only agenda which they are going to the people is by claiming that they are the only righteous party in Meghalaya…But those claiming to be perfect itself are an indication that there is nothing right about them,” he said.
“They are alleging that all political parties are sinners. They dislike Modi, they dislike Sonia, they dislike Prestone, they also dislike Conrad because according to them the only righteous party now is the Prah. Sadly, 10 out of 100 people seem to believe them,” he said.
Tynsong also slammed the VPP for attacking the church elders by alleging that they are indulging in distributing liquor during election time and said, “I want to ask the church elders what is their stand on this?”
“I want to tell the people that if you feel that whatever VPP are saying is wrong, you have a chance to prove that on April 19, and that is by voting for the NPP,” he said.
He also said it is sad that the VPP agenda is affecting the youth and women folks all because of the name of ieid jaidbynriew.
“They even claimed that the Prah has been able to bring back Kiang Nangbah and U Tirot Sing but when we try to find out we found that they (VPP leaders) don’t match at all to be called the Kiang Nangbah and U Tirot Sing (of the jaidbynriew),” he said adding “This is because if they love the jaidbynriew, is that how to talk to women folks? Is it right to pelt stones at women? I will leave it to you to answer all these.”
Coming to the Congress party, Tynsong said that he along with Sniawbhalang Dhar and others decided to quit the Congress, when it was very strong in Meghalaya, because it is a broken family.
“It is a broken family. Husband and wife are fighting, so also siblings are fighting among themselves. There is still so much division in the Congress in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi is going his own way and the president Karge is on his own,” he said.
Stating that Pala is a very good person, the NPP state president however said, “But it is so sad that he is still stuck in a broken family.”
He said that the NPP is united and is one. “We have nominated Ampareen as our candidate as a family. She has the back up of her family unlike other parties, who only one or two takes decisions on such matters,” he said.
Tynsong also said, “We are also a party that puts God first and we don’t come here to fool the people but to request you for your support to give the NPP a chance.”
According to him, winning the Shillong seat will further strengthen the NPP.
