Wahlang to inquire cause of Shillong Bar Association office’s fire incident
The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has appointed Additional District Magistrate East Khasi Hills District R Wahlang, MCS for conducting a magisterial inquiry into the fire incident that occurred at Shillong Bar Association building, Shillong on Saturday.
Wahlang appealed to all persons acquainted with the subject matter of inquiry, to furnish a statement relating to the above incident to the undersigned on or before Thursday this week at Room No. 324 in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong Room.

Any investigation into this fire should have been ordered by the High Court to enable impartial outcome. It is extremely questionable the fire took place on a Saturday late night when obviously Court life is at a standstill and casualty would be zero. With no activity visible, the scope for causing a deliberate fire seems plausible to find an escape route of a short-circuit. As stated by the CM Conrad Sangma, the wiring was very old in a century old structure, then why no effort ever made to update the wiring. There will obviously be a closing report stating the blame on old wiring….facts will be conveniently buried to cover up the motive to destroy crucial case papers of possible detrimental cases involving certain influential individuals.
