Wedding not permitted in South West Khasi Hills of Meghalaya
The District Magistrate, South West Khasi Hills District on Monday has reimposed lockdown in the entire district and banned all weddings along with various gatherings as a part of new restriction to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The lockdown will start from 5:00 AM of 22th May, 2021 till 5:00 AM of 24th May, 2021.
The following are the prohibitions in the whole district of South West Khasi Hills District:
- Political, public, social and religious gatherings are not permitted including conferences, meetings and trainings.
- Weddings are not permitted until further orders.
- Funeral gathering to be restricted to 15 persons with prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner. Any gathering after the funeral in any form is prohibited.
- Entry of tourists from outside the State will not be permitted and all tourist spots remain closed.
- International Border Trade remain suspended.
- Sports activities are not permitted.
- All Markets including weekly hat/market remain closed during the period of lockdown. Only shops selling essential commodities at locality will be allowed to open. All markets in the district shall be closed at 6:00 pm daily
- All Schools and colleges shall remain closed. Online -classes are allowed.
- Inter-District Movement to/from Shillong Agglomeration, Jowai town, Tura town and any other containment area will be restricted. For any other travel of an essential or emergent nature permission should be obtain from the Deputy Commissioner.
- It is advised that, unless absolutely necessary, movement of persons to Shillong Urban Agglomeration will not be undertaken.
- All non-essential movement is discouraged. Those violating the movement protocol or furnishing false self-declaration shall be liable for penal action as per law.
Exemptions
- Health services including emergency services and vaccination.
- Agriculture and Veterinary Services.
- Movement of Essential goods.
- Goods Vehicles, E-Commerce Services, Supply of Medicines and Pharmaceuticals.
- Home Delivery Services
- Persons travelling on Essential Government Duty viz.,
(a) Medical Teams and officials on COVID-19 duty.
(b) Police, Security and Armed Forces.
(c) Civil Defence and Home Guards.
(d) Fire and Emergency Services.
(e) Power (NEEPCO, MeECL, Powergrid, etc)
(f) Water Supply (PHE)
(g) Roads and Buildings (PWD, NHAI, NHIDCL, etc)
(h) Municipal Services
(i) Food Corporation of India
(j) Information and Public Relations.
(k) Banks, Post & Telegraph, National Informatics Centre and Telecommunication Services. - Print & Electronic Media
- Farming activities in rural areas
- MGNREGA activities in rural areas.
All permitted activities are subject to strict compliance to these guidelines and the social distancing protocols issued by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya.
