Weekend Lockdown reimposed in West Jaintia Hills
The District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills District on Thursday has reimposed Weekend Lockdown in the entire district from 5.00 Am of May 15 till 5.00 Am May 17.
The order was issued in order to prevent further spread of the COVID-19 virus and avoid an overwhelming strain on the health system and to avoid the loss of precious lives.
The District Magistrate has restricted inter-State movement of persons, however, this shall not apply for transit vehicles of Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram. All transit vehicles are not permitted to park in any inhabited villages along the NH-06 (old name NH-44) under the jurisdiction of West Jaintia Hills District.
This order will not apply to Health services including vaccination, Pharmacies. Essential services viz. Food Corporation of India, Electricity, Water Supply, Security, Municipal Services. Fire & Emergency Services.
National Informatics Centre and Telecom communication Services. Movement of essential goods.
Print and electronic Media. Farming and MGNREGA activities in rural areas. All Officials on COVID-19 Duty.
LPG distributors and petrol pumps are also exempted from the lockdown purview.
Passes earlier issued for activities NOT permitted in this Order are revoked.
Any violation of this Order will be punishable with fine under section 51 (b) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005
