Weekly markets allowed to open in East Jaintia Hills
The District Administration of East Jaintia Hills District on Thursday informed the general public that in order to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus and with a view to break the chain of transmission and also to save lives and the economy of the people of the District, all local markets namely Wapung, Ladrymbai, Khliehriat, Rymbai, Bataw, Sutnga, Samasi, Umpleng, Saipung, Cheihruphi and Lumshnong should follow the arrangement below with effect from 1st May,2021 upto 10th May,2021.
According to the order issued by District Magistrate, Khliehriat E Kharmalki said that all Retail shops/ stalls in the above mentioned markets shall open on a market day only strictly from 10:00 AM upto 1:00 PM. All Wholesale shops in the above mentioned markets shall open on a market day only strictly from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The District Magistrate also instructed all villages to place the services of the VDP or youth volunteers to their respective police thana to assist the police in regulating social distancing during the movement and transaction in their respective jurisdiction and to also ensure due compliance to the Advisories of Government. They should ensure that there is no panic and pandemonium during the relaxed period and during the relaxed period plying of vehicles is restricted.
The order also states only one person from each household shall be allowed to come out for shopping. All shopkeepers shall maintained distance of 4 meters from each other in their respective shops. No shopkeepers /sellers shall sell beyond the normal market price as printed MRP. All shopkeepers shall provide dustbins for waste dump at their respective shops and shall maintain cleanliness, not leave the spoil items in front of their shops and disposed of in a manner which the concerned local authorities are normally following. Vehicles should be parked at a designated place. All dorbar shnongs shall cooperate with the District Administration and Police and they shall ensure social distancing during the entire relaxed period.
Furthermore, the public should maintain personal hygiene, social distancing and practice frequent hand washing/ sanitizer. All those who come to the market should adhere to the Government advisories and personal hygiene and to throw tissues into closed bins immediately after use.
The public are also advised not to shake hands or have close contact with any one, if they are experiencing cough or fever, not to touch their eyes nose and mouth, not to sneeze or cough into their palms or hands and not to spit in public places.
