West Garo Hills admin issues advisory for Eid celebrations
In view of the Eid Celebration, the Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills had issued an advisory for the general public taking into account the present Covid Scenario in the District.
As per the instruction of the Deputy Commissioner, all prayers should be offered at home and any gathering at home or private places or visiting neighbours is to be strictly avoided to minimise disease transmission and persons with history of inter-state travel should strictly follow latest COVID-19 protocol for entrants issued earlier by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya.
Further, the individuals must maintain a minimum distancing of at least 5 feet, use of face shields or covers or masks is mandatory and people with flu like symptoms are advised to refrain from mingling with others. Frequent hand washing with soap (for at least 40-50 seconds) even when hands are not visibly dirty or use hand sanitizers approved by Health Department (for at least 20 seconds) whichever is feasible must be practised by all.
Moreover, respiratory etiquette is to be followed strictly which involves strict practice of covering of one’s mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing with a tissue or handkerchief or flexed elbow and disposing off used tissues properly including self monitoring of health by all and reporting any illness at the earliest to State and district helpline.
Embracing (‘gale milana’), kissing and or shaking hands should also be avoided to prevent infection, the advisory stated and spitting is also strictly prohibited.
