West Garo Hills gets first community bio-toilet

A first of its kind accessible community bio-toilet was inaugurated at Upper Dopgre LP School, West Garo Hills District, on Thursday. There are also stalls for wheelchair users, as well as ramps leading to the bio-toilet.

The district’s first bio-toilet was the result of a collaboration between Montfort School of Education and Christopher Blinden Mission (NGO). The compost from the set-up will be used as manure.

Low cost replicas of this model will also be created for high-performing schools with the community capacity to maintain them.
