West Garo Hills won National Water Warrior Award
It is a matter of pride for the people of Meghalaya as West Garo Hills District was awarded the Water Warriors Award for Best Initiative in Rain Water Harvesting.
Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh received the award from Union Minister for Jal Shakti Ministry Sh Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on behalf of the People of West Garo Hills District.
The award was given for record breaking works undertaken (more than 2500 works against 400-600 in previous years) under MGNREGS, Meghalaya Basin Management Agency ( MBMA) and Community Led Landscape Management (CLLMP).
The Annual Water Digest Awards are Sponsored by UNESCO India, Niti Ayog and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
More than 50 awards in Different sectors were given in different categories of corporates, PSUs, ULBs, NGOs, Media working across India.
