West Jaintia Hills emerges champion at 1st Senior Inter District Roll Ball Championship

The Meghalaya Roll Ball Association and East Khasi Hills Roll Ball Association successfully concluded the 1st Senior Inter District Roll Ball Championship 2024 on October 19, at St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School. West Jaintia Hills District emerged as the champion, with West Khasi Hills securing the 1st runner-up position and East Khasi Hills finishing as the 2nd runner-up.

In addition, the 3rd Meghalaya Speed Skating Championship 2024, organized by the Meghalaya Speed Skating Association, also concluded on the same day at St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong.

The competition saw participants across various age groups – under 6, under 8, under 10, under 12, under 14, and above 8 – competing in both Quads and Inline categories for boys and girls.

Participants represented several schools and districts, including Loreto Convent School, BDW International School, St. Anthony’s Hr. Secondary School, St. Edmund’s School, St. Mary’s Hr. Sec. School, and St. Mary’s English School.

The opening ceremony was graced by Fantin Lakadong, MDC of Malki-Laitumkhrah, as the Chief Guest, along with Bajop Pyngrope, MDC of Rambrai-Jyrngam, as the Guest of Honour. Other notable attendees included Shabbir Sayeed Dkhar, Additional SP of East Khasi Hills; O. Mawthoh, DSO of East Khasi Hills; John F. Kharshiing, Working President of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association; and Australian Olympian and Silver Medalist Robert Kabbas.
