West Jaintia Hills for strict action against black marketing, hoarding of essential commodities
In order to maintain the availability of essential commodities at a normal price in the open market to the public the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), West Jaintia Hills District directed all the open market wholesalers and retail traders of essential commodities under the District not to engage and create an artificial crisis by way of hoarding or black marketing and maintain sufficient buffer stock of essential commodities and not to sell beyond MRP and to refrain from selling expired product to the general public.
Further, the order states that the wholesaler and open market retailer must insist the customers to wear a face mask and maintain a social distance of at least 6 feet (2 meters) away from each other during procurement of essential commodities and may be denied if refuse to comply with the order.
Failure to comply with order strict actions will be taken under the provisions of the essential Commodities Act, 1995 and section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
