Wholesale Vegetable Market, Mawlonghat suspended for defiance of COVID-19

Due to the defiance of the COVID-19’s protocols, the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has temporarily suspended the operation of Vegetable Wholesale Market located in Shillong Municipal Board Parking Lot, Mawlonghat, Shillong with immediate effect.

According to an order issued, it is brought to the notice of the District Magistrate that the operation of the Vegetable Wholesale Traders of Iewduh, which were allowed to temporarily function in the Shillong Municipal Board Parking Lot, Mawlonghat is causing severe overcrowding and congestion.

Thereby, resulting in violation of norms, protocols and advisories of Health & Family Welfare Department with special reference to maintaining social distancing of at least 6 feet/2 metres,

“Therefore, in exercise of Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 and all Amendments thereof, the operation of the said market is hereby temporarily suspended till further Orders,” informed the District Magistrate

However, a site inspection will immediately be instituted for fresh arrangements of seating and regulations thereof in line with Health Procedures & Protocols for containment of COVID-19 pandemic.
