The state police has reigstered a case against a 31-year-old woman for unauthorised driving of a police vehicle.
“A case has been registred…under relevant sections of IPC and MV Act against Miss Phoebi Dale Smith Nongrum, resident of Pohkseh North for unauthorised driving of ML-02-0416 (Bolero) and negligent driving on April 25, night,” Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) GK Iangrai said in a statement issued here on Monday.
Nongrum also happened to be the first woman from North East to be selected into a Formula LGB4 team.
Sources informed that she is also related to a high ranking police official.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters that the government has ordered the authority concerned to investigate into incident.
“So let us wait for the investigation report,” Tynsong said while reacting to a query on whether the woman is also a cop.
Asked, he however said the law will take its own course against those violating and misusing of the curfew passes be it government or private vehicles.
The deputy chief minister also urged the citizens to cooperate and respect government’s order to ensure victory over the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
