Woman tested positive for COVID-19 died at NEIGRIHMS due to kidney failure: DHS
A 47-year-old woman, who was tested positive for COVID-19, passed away due to other ailments at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) on Tuesday.
“She (patient) passed away due to kidney failure and not COVID-19,” Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War told reporters here.
Asked, Dr War maintained that this case will not be counted as death due to COVID-19.
The deceased was a wife of a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan and originally hailed from Chattisgarh.
Earlier, four out of five COVID-19 patients have died at NEIGRIHMS while the first case was at Bethany Hospital, Shillong.
