Woodland WK Hospital celebrates Children’s Day with free health camp

Woodland WK Hospital on Saturday celebrated Children’s Day with Awareness programme cum free Health Camp for children from aged between 0-14 years at the premises of the hospital at Sabahmuswang in West Jaintia Hills District.

The Health Camp was organised under the leadership of Dr W Kharshiing Managing Director of Woodland W K Hospital Dr. Werlok Kharshiing along with Doctor and Staff of the hospital.

96 children were benefited from the camp. Awareness programme was also catered to the patient under the guidance of Sr. Ibadahunlang Dhar, Nursing Superintendent of the Hospital.

Speaking on the occasion Dr J Hazarika, Medical Superintendent of the hospital stated the need for better health care in the region and the state when it comes to children. He also said that this is the first time Woodland WK Jowai organised such a camp and there will be more such programs in the future.

Dr. Peter Daniel, consultant paediatric surgeon, spoke of the importance of health care in children especially infants that are born with congenital defects that can be corrected surgically.

Dr Iman Chyrmang, Medical officer of the hospital encouraged the parents to make sure that from time to time they take care of the children’s health.

On the occasion food packets were also distributed to the children’s as part of the celebration.
