Workshop for preparation of DPR for flood protection, anti-erosion, and river training works
The North Eastern Hydraulic and Allied Research Institute (NEHARI) in collaboration with the National Water Academy, Pune, conducted a five-day training workshop on “Preparation of Detailed Project Report for Flood Protection, Anti Erosion, and River Training Works” from November 25 to 29.
The five-day programme comprised comprehensive lectures and hands-on sessions on DPR guidelines for flood protection and management works, design of flood embankments, bank revetment, spurs, drainage improvement works, hydraulic model studies for river training and anti-erosion works, GIS, and Project Appraisal Management System (ePAMS), etc.
A field visit was also conducted under the guidance of Dr. Ranjit Deka, Director, NEHARI, Brahmaputra Board.
The training programme concluded with a valedictory session chaired by Dr. Ranbir Singh, chairman, Brahmaputra Board.
The valedictory programme witnessed participation by eminent officials, including D.S. Chaskar, Chief Engineer, NWA, Pune; M.K. Goel, Director, National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee; Abhay Kumar, General Manager, Brahmaputra Board; and Dr. Ranjit Deka, Director, NEHARI.
During the valedictory address, Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of DPR preparation and its direct impact on organizational performance. A total of 27 participants from various offices of the Brahmaputra Board and Water Resource Department of different states of NE India, like Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh, were awarded certificates of successful completion.
