World Homoeopathy Day observed in Jowai

An event marking World Homoeopathy Day was held on April 10 at the District Library Auditorium in Mynthong, Jowai. Organized by the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) in collaboration with the AYUSH department, the programme focused on the theme “Joy of Homoeopathy Day.”
West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Kumar Singh attended as chief guest, while DMHO Dr. Patricia Shylla was the guest of honour. The event commemorated the birth anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, and aimed to raise public awareness about the field.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted homeopathy’s relevance over the past 200 years and its growing recognition, particularly as a career path. He encouraged youth to explore the field, noting the effectiveness of homeopathy, despite its slower results compared to allopathic medicine.
Dr. Shylla described homeopathy as a holistic and nature-based form of treatment with fewer side effects and lower costs. She emphasized its focus on treating the individual as a whole – body, mind, and spirit.
Dr. Bonnie T. Hinge, DNO of the AYUSH department, discussed this year’s theme and sub-theme of Education, Teaching, and Research. She shared updates on week-long activities including a school health camp and a free medical camp conducted by departmental teams. She also spoke on the growing global recognition of AYUSH systems and the importance of integrating traditional practices for better health outcomes.
Dr. Synrem and Dr. Daphnecia Pariat also shared insights on homeopathy’s evolution, global adoption, and effectiveness in treating chronic and mental health issues. With approximately 300,000 registered practitioners, homeopathy continues to be an important component of healthcare in India and several countries worldwide.
