World Music Day celebrated with traditional instruments and performances
Music enthusiasts from the West Jaintia Hills District gathered to celebrate World Music Day today, June 21, at the District Library Auditorium in Mynthong, Jowai. The event, which offered free entry to all attendees, was organized by the office of the Deputy Commissioner in collaboration with the District Society for Arts and Culture, West Jaintia Hills District.
The celebration featured performances by several artists, including Kenneth Anderson Iakai, Armanki Nikhla, Padu Bloozy, Lynx, Rophilang Lyndoh, Seinkyntu Seinraij Khatar Daloi, Nongtalang Rongkhla troupe, Chandanga School Music, and the traditional and fusion music group Harmonium led by Player Suna and his team.
Artists from Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Kiang Nangbah Government College, and Thomas Jones Synod College, Jowai, also performed.
Additionally, there was lively entertainment presented by Chiiung. The event highlighted the district’s rich cultural heritage by showcasing traditional musical instruments and hosting a fashion show that blended traditional and fusion styles.
