Xth District Open Badminton Tournament kick off in Jowai

JOWAI: West Jaintia District Badminton Association (WJDBA) conducts the Xth District Open Badminton Tournament at Indoor Sports Hall, Dulong from August 5th to 9th.

Teddy Laloo, Secretary WJDBA inform that this tournament is organize as part of preparation for the “36th State Open Badminton Championship 2019” which is scheduled to be held on August 28th to 31st in Jowai.

About 115 shuttlers took part in this event including boys and girls, men and women and also veterans.

The event is open to different age category such as U-13 (boys & girls), U-15(boys & girls) both single, double and mixed doubles, men & women single, double, mixed doubles and Veterans 50 above single and double (both men and women).

Out of 75 matches about 17 matches were being played today, in the open doubles category, RL Bimee Suwer and D Challam defeated Diphrang Marbaniang and Abiding Khonglah (21-8,21-8).

In the 50 above men category (doubles), A Niangti and S Najiar defeated P Chyrmang and D Kyndiah (21-10, 21-11).

Meanwhile in the U-13 boys (Single) Leminelson Suchiang defeated Iar-i-tre Kyrdiah (21-14, 21-18) whereas in the Men Single Open Regroreo Passah defeated Wanjur Niang (21-8,21-17).

The event was inaugurated by K Tariang Adviser WJDBA along with the members of the Association.
