Yaba tablets, cattle seized by BSF on Meghalaya border

The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya seized narcotics and prevented cattle smuggling in two separate operations along the international border with Bangladesh on March 28.
In South Garo Hills district, troops of the 144 Battalion BSF conducted a search based on specific intelligence inputs and recovered a black plastic packet hidden near a tree. The packet contained 285 Yaba tablets, a highly addictive stimulant, suspected to be en route for smuggling into Bangladesh. The seized contraband was handed over to Gasuapara Police Station for further legal proceedings.
In West Jaintia Hills district, BSF personnel intercepted an attempt to smuggle cattle across the border. A total of 19 cattle were rescued during the early hours of the day and handed over to the concerned police station for necessary legal action.
The BSF PRO stated that the force remained committed to curbing cross-border smuggling and safeguarding the local population from the adverse impact of illegal activities.
