Yaba tablets worth Rs 66 crore seized from Karimganj, 3 arrested
In a joint operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police and Karimganj Police led by IG Parthasarathi Mahanta and SP Partha Protim Das seized a huge consignment of Yaba tablets worth Rs 66 crore from a Bolero vehicle at Lamajuar under Badarpur Police Station in Karimganj district at about 4 pm on Wednesday.
Three persons (all from Tripurw) were arrested in this connection.
The arrested have been identified as Khairul Hussain (driver), Mamon Miya and Nabir Hussain.
They have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, of 1985.
“A huge quantity of drugs has been seized at Lamajuar at about 4 pm today. 2,20,000 Yaba tablets inside the secret chambers of two backlights of the Bolero vehicle have been found and seized,” IG Parthasarathi Mahanta said.
“The Bolero camper vehicle having no registration number has also been seized,” Mahanta said.
The consignment was coming from Champhai area of Mizoram, police said.
