Yugal Kishore Mohanta, an Assistant Professor and Group Leader of the Nanobiotechnology and Translational Knowledge Laboratory in the Department of Applied Biology at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), has been honoured with the international Research Networking Project (RNP-2024) grant.
This initiative, funded by XJENZA MALTA under the Malta government, is a collaborative effort with Professor Renald Blundell from the University of Malta. The project, RNP-2024-008, is titled “Developing therapeutic functional foods by formulating symbiotic microcapsules using edible mushrooms as prebiotic resources—MYCO-BIO.”
Commenting on the project, Dr. Mohanta said: “This endeavour will significantly advance the development of functional foods, leveraging mushrooms as a promising food resource for the future.”
Mohanta has a proven track record in research, having successfully completed a project grant from the Department of Science and Technology—Anusandhan National Research Foundation (DST-ANRF) for the period 2022–2024.
The primary goal of the RNP-2024 project is to establish enduring research collaborations between USTM and the University of Malta, aligning with USTM’s global mission. This collaborative effort will enable researchers and students from both institutions to engage in meaningful exchanges, paving the way for future research opportunities and innovations.
